We are currently working on a project in Dewsbury, West Yorkshire with a number of different factors.
Externally, the team has been working on completely refitting a number of doors and windows around the property. The new windows frames are a pleasant cream colour that fits in with the rustic feel of the house. We have fitted these windows on the front and the rear of the property as well as French doors for the first floor patio and sliding panel doors on the ground floor, leading to the garden.
On the first floor, the new French doors open onto a small rooftop area which the homeowners wished to be able to use as a balcony/patio. We reworked the bare surface of the roof so that now the owners can benefit from a sunken rooftop patio with stylish slate tiling. The black slate gives a contemporary feel but does not clash with the rustic materials of the property.
Inside, we have refurbished the original kitchen with beautiful cabinets and state of the art appliances. After replastering the walls, fitting spotlights and brand new cream floor tiles, we moved onto fitting the kitchen cabinets themselves. The bespoke cabinets were designed to fit this space and the desired appliances perfectly. The double breasted refrigerator and the built-in oven are perfectly framed by the bespoke cabinets and give the room a luxurious feel. We have also updated the ceiling ventilation system within the room so that it matches the sleek and crisp design of the room. We are currently working on the finishing touches of the cabinets and the fitting of the island in the middle of the room.
When this project is finished we expect that the house will benefit from these beautiful modern touches, without detracting from the rustic village charm of the original building.
We recently travelled to Moortown, Leeds to work on an external project. At this site we rebuilt an existing retaining garden wall and landscaped the front garden.
A retaining wall is a structure that holds or retains soil behind it. These are commonly used in landscaping projects to add depth or layers to a garden, in this case in Moortown, the retaining wall is used to contain a steeply sloping garden from the street below. The original retaining wall for this property was very old and crumbling and in danger of collapsing. This would not have only been potentially dangerous for anyone walking on the adjoining street but could have also damaged the structural integrity of the house perched on the land above.
We used the foundations of the original retaining wall, which were still structurally sound, as a base from which to create the new structure. We chose brickwork that was very similar in design and colour to that of the original to give a seamless finish and to also match the brickwork of the property itself. The wall is then topped with black and gold iron railings to give a modern look.
At this property we also did some small amounts of landscaping in the front garden. As well as installing a garden gate that matched the new retaining wall, we reworked the path leading to the front of the house. The path now has a gravel finish that gives the garden a more natural look and complements the surrounding flowerbeds.
During this project in Weetwood, Leeds we undertook a complete bathroom restoration. We fitted a luxurious modern bathroom complete with double sink, jacuzzi bath and walk in shower.
The large rectangular tiles elongate the room and make it appear far more spacious than it is while the contrast between the dark grey and white tiles creates a contemporary look. The rectangular shape of wall tiles is complemented by the pattern on the bath panel, bathroom cabinet and sinks. The rectangular pattern of the bathroom furniture cleverly hides storage space beneath the twin sinks, creating much needed storage for towels or bathroom essentials.
We fitted both of the sinks, the luxurious jacuzzi bath and the large and spacious walk-in shower, all of which have a modern design to complement the contemporary design of the overall room. This theme is carried over to the individual fittings such as the chrome heated towel rack.
When fitting the wall tiles we also had to specifically cut the tiles to line the sunken window frames, within which we also fixed new blinds as part of the finishing touches of the room.
Internal and External Home Renovation – Moortown, Leeds
This project in Moortown, Leeds had many factors. As well as building a full extension to the rear of the building, we added a porch, fitted a new bathroom and landscaped the exterior spaces. The finished product left the house considerably larger, also benefitting from a much more modern exterior.
The extension to the rear of the property was created using materials that were very similar in appearance to the original materials of the house. This creates continuity in the design and doesn’t leave the house looking mismatched. We used similar brickwork and roof tiles to achieve this effect. The extension benefits from large windows and French doors opening onto the garden, creating a bright, airy and spacious interior. The new front porch complements the extension at the back of the house and leaves the house looking sleek and modern. We hung the new front door, which also has frosted windows running vertically alongside to give the porch some natural light. The addition of an outside light and hanging basket bracket completes the classic look.
The new extension and porch are complemented by the addition of brand new paving that runs around the exterior of the house. We used a range of landscaping skills at this Moortown property including the laying of new turf in the back garden. The new paving provides a continuous pathway around the property, altering the outside space into one large garden area.
In addition to the new extension, porch and external landscaping, we also redesigned a bathroom for this property. The bathroom was completely redecorated with a new, sleek design that incorporated modern touches into a classic tiled bathroom. We outfitted the bathroom with rectangular travertine tiles that complemented the matching, lighter floor tiles and lined up perfectly with the horizontal decoration on the bathroom mirror. We added strips of mirrored tile and a contemporary radiator to give the whole room a modern touch.
On this home renovation project in York, we fitted two bathrooms and the kitchen.
As well as fitting the bathroom appliances we did a lot of bespoke joinery work to achieve the look and layout the customer wanted. We built the structure for the shelving units which you can see in the first picture which were then tiled to match the rest of the bathroom. We also installed the door frames and hung the doors in the bathrooms.
The bathrooms were finished to a high standard using large travertine tiles. As you can see from the images a great deal of precise work was need to cut the tiles down so that they neatly fitted the areas around the bath and the bespoke shelving units we had built.
Our carpentry skills were also used on the kitchen in this house where we fitted the top and bottom kitchen units. More tiling was done on the splashback area between the top and bottom units to complete the look of the kitchen.
This shelving unit was a bespoke joinery job. We built the shelved from timber first and then tiled them to fit in with the rest of the bathroom.
The customer specified the use of high quality travertine tiles in their new bathroom. As these were relatively large tiles some careful cutting and shaping was needed to fit them around the bath.
As well as fitting the bathroom in this house we also did the kitchen fitting. As well as fitting the kitchen units this involved doing the tiling to complete the look.
This kitchen fitting project was at a house in the Headingley area of Leeds. The home owner wanted to achieve a sleek and modern look for their new kitchen and had chosen minimalist kitchen units with a gloss finish to them. These kind of kitchen units require a massive amount of attention to detail and care to install as they show up the slightest imperfections straight away.
To complement the sleek look of the kitchen cabinets we fitted high quality black granite worktops we then finished off the kitchen with a combination of high quality porcelain tiles with crafted border tiles and cladding on the ceiling.
We, and the homeowner, were very pleased with the end result.
This project was done for a commercial client in the Halton area of Leeds. The client wanted the entrance to their bar and function room area remodelling. We worked with a designer to create a smart new look for the bar’s customers. We did the extensive paving work leading to the front entrance, including paving the steps. As this was being done we installed the steel lighting columns which discretely light the pathway and built the walls which guide visitors to the entrance. In order to create the best possible impression for the bar we also re-glazed the entrance area. The finished project gives the visitors a much better first impression at the start of their night out.
